I should have guessed Cliff would wear a codpiece. East coast heads were always a different bunch.

Have fun! I have to miss the show at the Gorge in Washington. Seems a family event takes precedence. Oh well, I'm going to see the Allman Bros at the Rose Garden in Portland tomorrow night. Is Warren traveling with both bands? Geez, that would have him playing for 5-6 hours a night when they have a combined billing.

CLIFF old buddy...had no idea it'd go from "review" to "codpiece" to "organ" to "cape cod" to "the new DEAD" as I know you wanted to talk about this decline. Which I witnessed.

But, at the time, I was not consciously analyzing it, just overall felt the energy was not there, AND most of all, the scene was just gettin WAY too BIG for me...

Really. Everyone of them was a huge Day on the Green kinda of production.

I wanted "little" Winterland with 3-4K....

OK, OK, I think we've beaten this whole "codpiece" thing into the ground, as painful an image as that may be. Sorry I brought the whole thing up yesterday. Well, at least it shows that some of you actually pay attention. Kudos all around.
As for 79, I think most of you know where I stand on that one. Iconsistent? Sure, but many years are...or were...or whatever. But moments of brilliance? More than abundant for my ears. Take it or leave it, its up to you. Personally, I enjoy just about anything up to 91 (well, maybe not "anything" as the number of quality shows seemed to wax and wane on a regular basis).

Basically it boils down to one thing: Yay Dead.

Moving on...

Cape Cod girls ain't got no combs,
Heave away, haul away!
They comb their hair with a codfish bone,
And we're bound away for Australia!

So heave her up, me bully bully boys,
Heave away, haul away!
Heave her up, why don't you make some noise?
And we're bound away for Australia!

Cape Cod boys ain't got no sleds,
They ride down hills on a codfish head.

Cape Cod mothers don't bake no pies,
They feed their children codfish eyes.

Cape Cod doctors ain't got no pills,
They give their patients codfish gills.

Cape Cod cats ain't got no tails,
They got blown off in northeast gales.

Cape Cod dogs ain't got no bite,
They lost it barking at the Cape Cod light.

Cape Cod girls they are so fine,
They know how to bait a codfish line.

Give 11/2/79 a listen - it is an under the radar show but from what I recall some pretty good jammin in set two. I am also a sucker for Half-Step > Franklin's as well as 'I was there' so am totally biased. But it is really not too shabby.

Not sure if this is best source, and I think there is patch for beginning of Half-Step before SBD kicks in - no time to listen right now

Trivia fact - C Miller's first show!
